Application of real-time gas exchange simulation in an engine test bed environment

Author: Peter Kawelke, Volkswagen Research
This work was presented on Ricardo Software User Con Europe 2017.

Summary:

  • WAVE-RT has been validated as a real-time gas exchange simulation method on a cycle resolved level.
  • A Matlab/Simulink® based engine test bed environment was introduced to couple a WAVE-RT simulation model with the engine ECU.
  • To address the interfaces provided by the engine ECU several user coded sub models were developed.
  • As a next step the WAVE-RT model will be implemented on a rapid prototyping unit in order to perform synchronized simulations closer to the ECU.
